SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations, coordinate, supervise, and direct personnel, subcontractors, and the daily activities involved in the successful execution of events and maintenance of the entire facility by performing the following duties personally and through subordinate supervisors.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Oversee all aspects of operations including housekeeping, event staffing, set-ups changeovers, and ADA compliance for the entire complex.
  • Manage subordinate supervisors who oversee employees in various functions.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Implement and train employees on the operating procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, emergency plans, and safety/risk management policies that conform to corporate standards.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.  Develop and maintain a harmonious working relationship with all the other departments. 
  • Work closely with the Event Services Department on meeting Event and Client expectations.
  • Provide correct and up-to-date schedules for the Operations Department.
  • Work closely with other Managers to meet goals and deadlines expected of the operations Department.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Facility Operations & Capital Projects and the Assistance Director of Operations on providing an attainable efficient budget to Finance and the City of Oklahoma City.
  • Work closely with the OKC Thunder and OKC Blue to always provide a fan-centric event. This includes providing a high level of cleanliness at the Paycom Center.
  • Meet or exceed all NBA Regulations and Requirements expected of the Paycom Center.
  • Review contracts, speak with tenants, and work with subcontractors to determine special requirements.  Inspect conversions, construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
  • Act as a liaison between unions, tenants and facility contractors as needed.
  • Plan, budget and schedule facility modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts and contracts for construction and conversions.
  • Rotate with other facility personnel to function as Manager on Duty (MOD), who maintains total responsibility and authority over all clients, staff personnel, patrons, security and safety in assigned buildings.  Responsibilities include but not limited to making sure contractual agreements are met and clients’ event requirements and changes have been made in a timely fashion.  On-duty staff/subcontractors ultimately report to the MOD through any Managers or Supervisors who are present during the event.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Position requires ability to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
  • Possess skills and experience in labor relations, purchasing procedures and supervising/training personnel.
  • A required 2-4 Years in a management role within the Operations or Event Services Department of a Major League Facility.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and other related materials.
  • Meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting, carrying, moving, climbing, working from various heights, and moderate to loud noises.
  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, boom lifts, Zamboni machine, scrubbing machines or other light power-driven equipment.
  • Operate a personal computer using Windows and Microsoft 365 software.
  • Operate standard office equipment including copier, typewriter and fax machine.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with other in both oral and written form.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. 
  • Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or university and six (6) years related experience and/or training in the public assembly industry in a supervisory or management position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Being able to communicate in Spanish is beneficial.
